The Municipality of Bologna is revolutionizing last-mile deliveries with the URBANE Project!
On December 12th, 2024, the Italian partners of the European URBANE Project, including GEL Proximity, gathered for a demonstration event at one of the city’s Proximity Logistics Spaces. The highlight? An innovative, automated, and agnostic Micro-Hub designed to reduce emissions and improve the efficiency of urban deliveries.
URBANE – Upscaling Innovative Green Urban Logistics Solutions Through Multi-Actor Collaboration and PI-inspired Last Mile Deliveries – is a Horizon Europe project aiming to transform urban logistics. How?
✅ Cutting CO2 emissions by 20%
✅ Reducing delivery vans in urban areas by 30%
🎙️ “GEL Proximity is the logistics orchestrator that enables interaction between multiple supply chain players: carriers, locker software, and last-mile operators using electric vehicles” explained Lorenzo Maggioni, CEO & Co-founder of GEL Proximity.
Through GEL Proximity’s last mile Orchestrator Software, the agnostic micro-hubs accept parcels that should be delivered by couriers in the city centres with traditional vehicles and hand them over to last milers using more efficient solutions such as Cargo Bikes or Electric Vehicles.
